Amber Fortowski
RSW, CCC
Hello! My name is Amber and I’m a registered social worker. I also hold a master’s degree in counselling. I offer individual (ages 18+), couples and family counselling. My primary goal is to create a safe and judgement-free environment where you can take a deep breath, relax and just be yourself. I practice from a client-centered perspective and my focus is on working in partnership with clients. I also practice from a trauma-informed lens, assuming that we have all experienced trauma at some point in our lives.
Some of the counselling theories and modalities I am drawn to are Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing and Attachment Theory. My areas of interest are anxiety, anger, trauma, exposure therapy, emotional regulation, and unhealthy relationships with self and others.
I firmly believe that success in counselling is connected to having a kind, compassionate, accepting, and empathetic counsellor that you feel safe and comfortable with. I believe this is one of my personal strengths as a counsellor and something I continually strive to provide for my clients.
